El Paso after school program, daycare and pre-school services

The El Paso Parks and Recreation Department is opening its after school program and daycare/pre-school services to parents as the 2017-2018 school year begins.

The after school program will begin on Setpember 5. The program costs $5 per week, per child and is offered at select elementary schools in the El Paso and Ysleta Independent School Districts.

Parents can register their children from ages five through 12 at any recreation or senior center.

The hours of the program run from school dismissal to 6 p.m. and a healthy snack will be served on a daily basis.

The department also is inviting the public to learn more about their daycare and pre-school programs at an open house on Friday.

They will be happening at the Veterans Recreation Center and the Galatzan Recreation Center at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Both recreation center locations have competitive rates, according to the City, and residents may be eligible for discounted rates. The hours of operation for the daycare are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. In addition, there is a pre-school program from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Registration is now open for both programs and applications will be taken on a first paid basis.
