LCPD: Information on stolen pickup posted on social media, police arrest alleged auto thief

Police say information about a stolen pickup posted on social media led them to the stolen vehicle and the suspected auto thief.

Isaacc Bailey, 26, of the 5700 block of First Street in Organ, N.M., is charged with one fourth-degree felony count of receiving or transferring a stolen motor vehicle.

Police say Bailey stole a red 1998 GMC Sierra pickup on Aug. 27 from a home on Mulberry Avenue. The owner of the pickup said he he left the keys inside the vehicle.

A friend of the owner saw details of the stolen pickup on a social media post and contacted the owner with information on the possible whereabouts of the vehicle, police said.

The owner contacted police and an officer located the pickup as it drove up and parked on the roadway in front of 1812 Juniper Avenue.

The officer detained the driver, Bailey, and 31-year-old Conrad Davis Barrio, a passenger in the vehicle.

Investigators learned Bailey had allegedly been in possession of the vehicle since early Monday morning and had attempted to trade or sell the vehicle during the day.

Investigators also learned a blue laptop computer was removed from the pickup and traded for narcotics.

Bailey was charged with receiving or transferring a stolen motor vehicle. He was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center where he’s initially being held without bond.

Barrio, who had an outstanding bench warrant on a shoplifting charge, is being held without bond.
