Man suspected of sexually assaulting six-year-old girl

Police arrested a Las Cruces man suspected of sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl.

David M. Williams, 58, is charged with a first-degree felony count of criminal sexual penetration of a minor and two second-degree felony counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor.

Las Cruces Police detectives learned of the allegations against Williams August 24, 2017.

After interviewing both the accuser and Williams, detectives determined the allegations were credible and likely occurred at Williams’ home, police said.

Officials said the victim has been placed into the temporary custody of the New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department.

Williams was arrested Tuesday, August 29, 2017 and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond.
