Crash causes Eastside power outage

A crash early Thursday morning caused the power to go out for nearly 1,800 customers, according to emergency dispatch.

El Paso Electric’s outage map showed the outage occurred near Zaragoza Road and Diamond Head Circle.

Officials say a car ran into a pole causing the power to go out. There were no reports of injuries.

El Paso Electric said two poles will need to be replaced.

EPE spokesman George De La Torre told our Round the Clock team that crews were able to “isolate the outage,” and that ” currently 53 customers are without power…until repairs can be made.”
