Man allegedly stabs brother, accused of sexually assaulting woman

A Las Cruces man is accused of stabbing his brother and sexually assaulting a women during a party Wednesday, police said.

Hanson Dennis, 25, of Idaho Avenue, is charged with several felonies: a second-degree felony count of kidnapping, a third-degree felony count of criminal sexual penetration, a third-degree felony count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and a fourth-degree felony count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Investigators said Dennis invited three women to his apartment for a party on Oct. 4. During the party, Dennis allegedly sexually assaulted a 23-year-old woman and held her against her will after telling her she could rest in his bedroom.

After the women left the bedroom and told the other party-goers what happened, investigators said Dennis’ brother allegedly confronted his sibling. The argument became heated and that’s when investigators said Dennis pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed his brother in the thigh.

The woman and Dennis’ brother were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police were unable to locate Dennis the night of the allegation. Dennis was arrested Friday evening and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center. He is being held without bond.
