Police investigating officer-involved shooting in Central El Paso

Two El Paso Police officers were involved in a shooting as they investigated a domestic disturbance.

Police said the shooting was reported at 1:15 pm after officers responded to investigate a family fight on the 3800 block of Mountain in Central El Paso.

The officers were advised one of parties involved in the family fight was armed with a machete, police said.

As officers arrived at the scene, there was a confrontation inside the home and the two police officers fired several rounds.

Police said a man was taken to the hospital for medical treatment. Police did not reveal the extent of the man’s wounds.

ABC-7 spoke with a man who lives next door to where the shooting happened. He said five people live at the residence.

“They are just real nice people. They seem to be real nice people. Like I said, I don’t know them very good, but when I see them, we say hi to each other and they seem like real nice people,” the neighbor said, “This is the first time I see police here in their house and they have been living here for a few years.”

The police department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit, the Texas Rangers, and a shooting review team are investigating.

ABC-7 will have coverage from the scene during ABC-7 at 4. Watch live.
