Coin toss helps Jefferson secure final playoff spot in District 1-5A

The muddled playoff picture in District 1-5A cleared up Saturday afternoon at the Sun Bowl.

Bowie and Jefferson battled in another edition of the Battle of the Southside.

Bowie needed a win to clinch the final playoff spot in District 1-5A, but Jefferson had other ideas.

The Silver Foxes wanted to keep their playoff hopes alive and they did just that by topping the Bowie Bears by a final of 26-16.

The Jefferson win led to a 5-way tie for the 4th and final playoff spot in the district.

Bowie, Irvin, Austin, El Paso and Jefferson all ended the season with a district record of 2-5.

A coin flip was held after the game at the Sun Bowl with the Silver Foxes winning the toss and securing the final playoff spot.
