Local nonprofits gather for El Paso Giving Day

Local nonprofits hope to raise money during El Paso Giving Day on Wednesday.

The goal is to surpass the $100,000 raised last year, and $250,000 in 24 hours for the 165 nonprofit organizations participating.

“Everything from after-school childcare programs to cancer support groups to meals for the homeless and so much more,” said Kimmy May, organizer of El Paso Giving Day.
“We were inspired by the generosity of El Pasoans during our first-ever event, so we’re excited to more than double our goal! It’s ambitious, but we know we can do it if we all work together.”

Two organizations very close to ABC-7, Stand With Estela and It’s All About The Food Drive are both participating.

“If you’ve never given before, El Paso Giving Day is a great time to start,” May said. “Even a small donation can make a big difference; the minimum donation is just $10!”

Donations are tax deductible.

The Paso Del Norte Charitable Foundation will email a receipt immediately following your donation that can be used for tax purposes.

The event is planned at The Fountains at Farah located at 8889 Gateway Boulevard West from 4 to 7 p.m.

You can donate any non-perishable items or money at designated drop off locations, including all Albertsons locations in El Paso and Las Cruces, Sun City ER, Viva Auto Group dealerships and all Mattress Firm locations.

The Stand With Estela Fund will provide financial support for a variety of things, like transportation to and from their chemotherapy, wigs, compression sleeves, maybe even flowers or a prayer blanket.

Donors may also target their funds for research. Click here to learn more and donate.
