Miners fall to UAB in season finale 28-7; UTEP ends 2017 season without a win

The UTEP Miners had one final chance Saturday afternoon to avoid a winless season, but just like the 11 games before, the Miners dropped their 12th straight game of the season.

UTEP lost on the road to the UAB Blazers by a final of 28-7.

UAB wrapped up their season with a 8-4 record.

Despite jumping out to a 7-3 lead in the first quarter, the UTEP offense stalled the rest of the game and the defense gave up 25 unanswered points.

UTEP quarterback Zach Greenlee ended the day with 107 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions.

UTEP ends the season with an 0-12 record.

The last winless season for the Miners was back in 1973.

This was a season to forget for the Miners.

Their head coach Sean Kugler resigned after the 5th week of the season and not even interim head coach Mike Price could rejuvenate the team to its full potential.

The good news is that changes are coming to the UTEP football program.

Monday, UTEP will introduce its new Director of Athletics, Jim Senter whose first task will be hiring a new football coach.
