Suspect in SWAT standoff wanted on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge

The man blamed for a brief SWAT standoff in Far East El Paso was wanted on an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and family violence, El Paso Police said.

Shortly before 2 am, police officers attempted to execute the warrant at a residence on the 14200 block of Honey Point.

The wanted suspect, a 24-year-old man, allegedly refused to exit the home. SWAT was called to the scene to assist with the barricaded suspect. Police said the man eventually walked out of the home.

He was taken into custody, but his arrest photo is not yet available.
