Street drug laced with bug spray results in ‘zombie-like effects’

The Indianapolis Fire Department reports a spike in overdoses from a street drug called KD, which is reportedly laced with bug spray and results in users exhibiting “zombie-like effects.”

“We describe it as being like a zombie. They cannot talk to us,” IFD Captain Chris Major told TV station KXIN.

A FOX 59 crew was on the scene when emergency crews found an unresponsive man in the grass struggling to breathe. Paramedics told the TV crew the man overdosed on KD.

“Their movements are slow and lethargic, a lot of drooling and a loss of function. We find them with their clothes off, eating the grass, pulling dirt out of the ground and trying to put it in their mouth,” Major said.

Health officials said KD is a mix of either marijuana, spice, or tobacco – doused in bug spray and then smoked.
