Man receiving medical attention runs into oncoming traffic, killed

A 59-year-old man was killed Saturday morning after being struck by a vehicle on I-10, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Officials say the incident happened around 11 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of I-10 near mile marker 99.

Investigators say Hudspeth County received an emergency call from a rider on a charter bus with a possible medical emergency. While EMS was checking the man’s condition, for unknown reasons, he ran onto the interstate and was hit by a passing vehicle.

Officials say the man was pronounced dead on-scene.

Next of kin have not been notified. Investigators say the man is from Florida.

The investigation is ongoing with the Texas Rangers.
