Northeast car show raises money for fallen police officer memorial

More than 100 cars rolled into East El Paso for a car show that honored fallen police officers.

“We had an officer who passed away, who made the ultimate sacrifice and unfortunately we are running out of room at the current memorial,” event organizer Eloy Serna said.

Serna told ABC-7 all of the proceeds will be donated to help rebuild the police memorial in Chuck Heinrich Park in Northeast El Paso.

More than 130 cars were at the car show on the 6500 block of Montana.

The event raised money by charging the cars participating, selling donations and by hosting a raffle.

Serna said he hopes today’s event will raise $10,000.
