One person dead after crash in far east El Paso

One person is dead after a crash in far east El Paso.

It happened on the 14,000 block of Socorro Rd. just after midnight on Sunday. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responded in reference to a two vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, deputies found two vehicles had collided and left the roadway.

The investigation revealed that a vehicle was traveling eastbound on Socorro Rd. and due to an unknown reason, that vehicle attempted to change direction on the roadway. The sheriff’s office said the car was then struck by another vehicle.

Two people were transported to a local area hospital and one person was pronounced dead at the scene, according to sheriff’s officials.

Special Traffic Investigators and Crime Scene Investigators were requested at the scene.

West and eastbound lanes of Socorro Rd. are expected to remain closed for approximately 3 hours.
