Man and woman arrested for allegedly helping steal car at gun point

Police arrested a Las Cruces man and woman accused of being two of the five suspects who helped robbed a vehicle at gun point Friday at a parking lot.

Quiant Kelley, 23, and 19-year-old Brittnie Aldon-Pitts were arrested on warrants Monday morning in Alamogordo. Three other suspects connected to the incident remain at large.

Police say two men were approached by two females who asked for help jump-starting their white Honda Civic.

The two men were assisting the females when three men allegedly approached them. One the males appeared to deliberately drop a walking cane and when one of the victims went to pick the up the cane, he was struck in the face by the man who dropped the cane, police say.

Another suspect pointed a handgun at the victim’s head and both victim’s took off running across Telshor Boulevard, according to police. One of the suspects allegedly got into one of the victim’s Mercedes and drove south on Telshor, followed by a Ford Crown Victoria and the Honda Civic.

Police say he primary suspect was Kelley, who was located, along with Aldon-Pitts, in the stolen Mercedes in Alamogordo.

Kelley was charged with one count of armed robbery, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, battery and two counts of conspiracy. Aldon-Pitts was charged with two counts of conspiracy.

Both are being held at the Otero County Detention Center, pending transfer to Las Cruces.
