UTEP holding teacher job fair Friday

UTEP is holding a teacher job fair Friday at the Don Haskins Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

School officials estimate 300 UTEP students, alumni and community members with teaching credentials will be there to meet with district representatives. Organizers said some potential employers may request applicants have on-the-spot interviews.

Organizers from UTEP’s College of Education said districts seek potential teachers at all grade levels and disciplines at the job fair.

These fairs are also great opportunities for students to network with districts for employment after graduation, Dr. William Robertson, interim dean of the College of Education, said.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projected that there will be nearly 1.9 million job openings for teachers from preschool through post-secondary school through 2024.

For those attending Friday’s fair, organizers suggest arriving early, dressing professionally and bringing several copies of their resume.
