Community Champions: Franklin baseball reaches regional quarters

The Franklin Cougars are going on to the regional quarterfinals in the UIL State Baseball Playoffs!

The Cougars beat Fort Worth Paschal twice last weekend (5-3 and 12-3) to advance to the third round of the postseason.

The team is absolutely full of characters, and they don’t just win, they have fun doing it!

“Just excited for these guys, you know, to get the opportunity and go ahead and do this,” said head coach Ruben Munoz. “You know, try to get into the Round of 16 and just see how far we can take this. You know, we believe in each other and we love each other.”

Senior pitcher/outfielder Cameron Radecki says he has has a plan in the face of the adversity when the Cougars meet Keller this weekend.

“We need to stay positive. I think a lot of us have looked at the team that we’re coming up against, and we’ve had our doubts,” he said. “But, we’ve been really bringing each other up and staying positive. And I think that’s gonna help us a lot this weekend.”

Keller defeated Socorro in the area round last week, winning that series 2-0.
