Texas adds UTEP, Alabama to future football schedules

UTEP will meet Texas once again on the gridiron on Sept. 19, 2020, according to information released by the University of Texas.

The two teams last met during the 2016 season. UTEP’s Aaron Jones ran for 123 yards and a touchdown, but that was the only score for the Miners as Texas cruised to a 41-7 win.

The Longhorns have won all five of their matchups with the Miners. In addition to their win in 2016, the Longhorns won games in 1930, 1933, 2008, and 2009.

Texas also added two games with Alabama in the coming years. The teams will meet in Austin on Sept. 10, 2022. They will then play in Tuscaloosa on Sept. 9, 2023.

To accommodate the games against Alabama, Texas and Ohio State have agreed to push their series back from 2022-23 to 2025-26.

Texas also canceled a game with UCF that was scheduled for 2023.
