Election Day in the Borderland

It is Election Day in the Borderland and several runoff races are on the ballot.

Early voting numbers are once again disappointing and show low voter turnout in El Paso County.

There are 442,826 registered voters in the county, but only 11,188 Democrats voted early in the Democratic primary runoff election.

In the Republican primary runoff election, only 452 ballots were cast.

“It’s very important for everyone to vote, especially young people now so our voices can be heard,” said Isabella Martinez, who voted early.

Below are the races on the Democratic ticket:

U.S. Representative, District 23

Gina Ortiz Jones

Rick Trevino

Governor

Lupe Valdez

Andrew White

El Paso County Judge

Ricardo Samaniego

John Cook

Judge, County Court at Law 5

Kristin Raquel Romero

Jesus Rodriguez

On the Republican ballot:

Justice of the Peace, precinct 7

Ida Gardner

Kelly Dickson

Polling locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
