Beaumont hospital commander re-instated after suspension

William Beaumont Army Medical Center announced that its commander has returned to duty after being suspended since May 8.

Col. Erik G. Rude, a native of Mesquite, Texas, was suspended pending an investigation. The hospital did not release details at the time of his suspension or nor upon his return to duty.

Rude is a health-care executive leader by trade, but his background is as a Black Hawk helicopter pilot specializing in medical evacuations and as a logistics officer.

He took command of the hospital on July 18.

His most recent assignment was as the military adviser to the secretary of Veterans Affairs in Washington, D.C.
