EPPD investigating deadly shooting in west El Paso, searching for suspect

Police are currently searching for a male suspect allegedly involved in a deadly shooting in West El Paso.

According to El Paso Police, a woman is dead after a shooting on the 5400 block of Ridge at the Corona Del Valle apartments in West El Paso.

El Paso Police Spokesman Enrique Carrillo told ABC-7 officers responded to a shots fired call around 6:53 a.m. Sunday where they found one victim, a woman who was declared dead at the scene.

Carrillo said Crimes Against Persons and the Crime Scene Unit will be investigating at the scene for the next several hours.

Police said they believe the suspect fled the scene, either on foot or in a vehicle, and are using canines along with air support from Customs and Border Protection to search for the suspect.

Police said the south section of the apartment complex surrounding the crime scene has been sealed off to people leaving and entering. Residents are advised to enter through the north end of the complex, but they will not be allowed past the crime scene perimeter.
