Abilene boy bitten by rattlesnake

A Texas boy is in the hospital after being bitten by a rattlesnake.

The ABC affiliate in Abilene is reporting that the snake was hiding in the boy’s toys and bit him while he was playing.

Authorities said high temperatures are drawing snakes closer to residential areas.

ABC-7 has reported on the threat of snake encounters in El Paso.

Experts told ABC-7 everyone should be aware of their surroundings while outside, especially near bushes or rocks.

If you hear a rattle, move somewhere safe.

Rattlesnakes are venomous, so call 911 to get treatment if you or anyone else is bitten.

Furthermore, stay calm, because experts say if your heart rate goes up, the venom spreads through your body faster.
