Two Chihuahuas invited to Triple-A All-Star Game

Two Chihuahuas were named Triple-A All-Stars Thursday and will be headed to Columbus, Ohio for the annual all-star game on July 11.

Pitcher Brett Kennedy and infielder Luis Urias will compete for the Pacific Coast League team against players from the International League.

The 23-year-old Kennedy has started ten games for El Paso this season, posting a 5-0 record and only allowing 18 earned runs so far. Kennedy has also struck out 53 batters in exactly 53 innings this year.

Urias, still just 21 years old, has 73 hits in 73 games with the Chihuahuas and has driven in 28 runs. Additionally, he’s hit six home runs and scored 43 runs himself.

The Pacific Coast League won last year’s game 6-4, but the International League has gone 12-8 overall in 20 contests under the current format.

The 2019 Triple-A All-Star Game will be held in El Paso next July.
