Texas man with 5 DWI convictions arrested on another charge

A West Texas man with five prior convictions for drunken driving has been arrested again on a charge of driving while intoxicated after a woman was seriously hurt when she fell out of his moving vehicle.

Forty-seven-year-old Luis Ortega Anzures was arrested early Monday and also charged by Odessa police with evading arrest.

Police began searching for Anzures after emergency personnel found the bloodied woman in the road. It’s not clear what led her to fall out of Anzures’ Jeep. She was in critical condition at a hospital.

Police say he fled when officers later spotted the Jeep, but eventually stopped.

His latest DWI charge was enhanced to a third-degree felony because of his prior convictions.

Online jail records don’t indicate whether he has an attorney to speak on his behalf.
