Doña Ana County Sheriff’s deputy Jamar Cotton is no stranger to the spotlight.
The law enforcement officer made a viral attempt in February to break the record for the most hugs in one minute.
“Yes, we wear a badge and a gun, but at the end of the day, we’re still human beings,” Cotton said.
On Monday, Cotton recreated his lip sync video with me in his passenger seat. His song of choice? A Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton.
“It’s my favorite song,” Cotton told me.
The deputy said law enforcement officers may have an important job, but behind the badge, they’re people.
“We’re part of the community and there’s a lot of positivity that’s come from law enforcement as well,” Cottons said “We want to share the same experience with the community and also let them know we’re just like them.”
