GECU to expand operations center off Airway

GECU, a locally-owned credit union, is expanding its Operations Center, commonly known as the Diamond in the Desert.

The newly-designed building will be built at Airway and Edgemere and will house employees working on organizational support.

The community and visitors will see the building when driving on Airway to and from the airport.

The new building will help GECU expand its operational footprint to a total of 140,000 square feet in the El Paso community.

“A growing membership needs a credit union that meets their needs. The new building will continue to demonstrate our long-term commitment to this wonderful community,” said Crystal Long, the president and CEO of GECU.

GECU has grown in the last decade to having nearly 380,000 members with 25 locations citywide and more than 800 employees.

The GECU Airway Drive-Thru will remain open during construction.
