Deputies arrest 4 on drug charges in Socorro and San Eli

A narcotics investigation at an apartment complex on the 13000 block of Socorro Road led to the arrest of four people now facing drug charges.

The arrests were made on Monday, September 17, 2018, by El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies assigned to the Clint Patrol Station and Narcotics Unit.

The deputies conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Oscar Chacon and Socorro Road. A search of the vehicle allegedly led to the discovery of marijuana and a handgun. Deputies arrested 22-year-old Sarah Rodriguez and 30-year-old Jacqueline Botello. Rodriguez was charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon and Possession of Marijuana Under Two Ounces. Botello was arrested on a charge of Possession of Marijuana Under Two Ounces.

Deputies then conducted a second traffic stop on the 800 block of Borrego Road and a search of that vehicle allegedly led to the discovery of marijuana. Deputies arrested 25-year-old Sergio Gomez and charged him with Possession of Marijuana Under Two Ounces. Gomez already had outstanding warrants for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana, deputies said.

A third traffic stop was conducted by the San Elizario Marshal and marijuana was allegedly found in that vehicle. Sheriff’s deputies obtained a search warrant for the residence of 20-year-old Edgar Ruiz. On Tuesday, September 18, 2018, a search of the residence allegedly yielded the seizure of 20 pounds of marijuana, THC vaping liquid, and 11 grams of THC wax, deputies said.

Investigators also seized approximately $9,000, a firearm and 19 pairs of “high-end athletic shoes.” Ruiz was booked for Possession of Marijuana over 5 pounds and under 50 pounds, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Theft of a Firearm.
