Sen. Cruz, Rep. O’Rourke debate in…

With just more than four weeks before early voting begins, Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-El Paso) faced off in their first of three debates.

Cruz, the junior senator from Texas, is trying to fend off a challenge from the congressman from the Sun City for his seat in the U.S. Congress.

It comes on the heels of two polls that show the two candidates neck and neck — and one of them, the challenger has the lead.

In a poll conducted by Reuters, O’Rourke leads Cruz by two points, 47 percent to 45 percent. The poll was among 992 likely voters, with a margin of error of +/- 4 percent.

Another poll by Quinnipiac University released earlier this week showed Cruz up by 9 percentage points.

Election Day is Nov. 6. Early voting begins on Oct. 22.
