Pedestrian fatally hit by vehicle

El Paso police are searching for the driver of an unknown white SUV that fled the scene of a fatal collision involving a pedestrian.

Officers with the Special Traffic Investigations (STI) unit responded to the incident on the 9400 block of McCombs, which took place just before 9 P.M. Sunday, September 23rd.

An investigation into the incident revealed that a Nissan Altima and an unknown white SUV were traveling north on McCombs with a green light at Sanders, while the pedestrian was crossing McCombs against a red light.

Investigators say the pedestrian was hit by the Altima as she was crossing, then run over by the white SUV. The driver of the white SUV failed to stop and remain at the scene.

The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Anyone with information on the SUV, which police believe could possibly be a Ford Expedition, are asked to call STI at (915) 212-4080.

ABC-7 crews on the scene saw what looked like a body lying on the street, but police did not confirm the condition of the victim, nor say how the crash happened. until Monday.
