Sen. Cruz raises possibility that second debate could be canceled

Senator Ted Cruz is raising the possibility that the second debate with his opponent in the November election may be canceled.

The town hall-style debate between Cruz, R-Texas, and Rep. Beto O’Rourke, D-El Paso, is currently scheduled to happen in Houston on Sunday at 5 p.m., El Paso time.

The candidates went head-to-head in their first debate on Sept. 21.

A reporter with the Dallas Morning News tweeted that Cruz raised the prospect of postponing the debate due to the confirmation hearing of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Cruz was quoted as saying, “Our schedule right now is unclear.”

At last check of the U.S. Senate’s calendar of hearings and meetings, the confirmation hearing is still scheduled for Friday.
