Texas to hold second execution this week

Texas first executed a man Wednesday after he was sentenced to death for a kidnapping and murder in 1998.

Troy Clark, 51, was given a lethal injection following his conviction for killing Christina Muse. Prosecutors said Clark beat and drowned Muse before stuffing her body in a barrel with concrete and hiding it on his landlord’s property.

Clark’s death became the ninth execution in the state this year.

The second execution is set for Thursday for Daniel Acker, who was sentenced to death in the 2000 murder of his girlfriend in Hopkins County.
