Andress wins Sweet Play of the Week on long touchdown pass

The Andress Eagles are this week’s winners of the Sweet Play of the Week thanks to the efforts of quarterback Jeremiah Tosky and wide receiver Marco Barron.

The duo connected on a long touchdown pass in their 16-0 win Friday over Burges. Tosky had to step up in the pocket to avoid pressure and then launched a beautiful pass to Barron, who hauled it in and shed a tackler on his way to the end zone.

Tosky says he simply trusted his instincts on the play.

“I just saw he had the cornerback beat, so I threw him the ball,” said Tosky.

Barron was a bit more brazen in his claim regarding the play.

“Yes sir, our receivers are the most talented in the city, and we can pull down any ball thrown to us,” he said.

Though offensive players often win Sweet Play of the Week, Barron gave a shout out to the entire Andress defense as well for their efforts in holding Burges scoreless.

“Hey defense, I love you all,” Barron told his teammates. “Y’all have been working like – I can’t say bad words out here. So, I mean, ya’ll just keeping us in the game. Without you, none of this would have been possible.”

The Eagles are now 4-2 overall and 2-0 in district play on the year. They have this week off before meeting Jefferson at home on Oct. 19.
