Man dead following officer involved shooting at Pebble Hills Regional Command Center

One man is dead following an officer involved shooting in east El Paso at the Pebble Hills Regional Command Center. Pebble Hills from Lee Trevino west is currently closed to traffic.

The man has been identified as Richard Palafox, 76, by police.

According to El Paso police, they received a call saying that a man was armed and in the parking lot. Police say that several people were inside the command center, as well as officers, when the man arrived.

The man was armed and police confronted him when shots rang out. No officers were injured during the shooting. Police say three officers discharged their firearms and have been placed on administrative leave.

Texas Rangers are currently at the scene investigating, which is customary during an officer-involved shooting. The bomb squad was also on the scene to check the mans vehicle for anything suspicious.

The motive behind the shooting has yet to be released, but an ABC-7 crew is at the scene waiting to get more information.

We will update this story as more details are provided.
