Dallas officer arrested, accused of assaulting daughter

A Dallas police sergeant has been arrested after being accused of hitting her daughter in the face earlier this month and bruising the 8-year-old girl.

Authorities, in a statement released Monday, say Jamie L. McDonald was watching her daughter when she assaulted the girl at a residence in Royse City, about 30 miles east of downtown Dallas.

Dallas police report McDonald was arrested by Royse City police Saturday for injury to a child. McDonald, who has been with the department since 2002, was put on administrative leave.

Royse City police say the girl’s father reported the assault after he picked his children up and noticed bruising on his daughter’s face. Authorities say the girl and her brother reported McDonald was disciplining the girl over “the use of an electronic device.”
