UPDATE: Man dies after being hit by a car Sunday morning
An unidentified 50-year-old man who was hit by a car early Sunday morning has died.
The crash happened Sunday morning on the 4600 block of Dyer Street in Northeast El Paso.
According to the El Paso Police Department, Special Traffic Investigators (STI) responded to the collision.
Police said, the unidentified man was running across the intersection of Dyer while 21-year-old Jose Alberto Guevara was driving north on Dyer at the same time.
Guevara’s vehicle, a 2007 Volkswagen Golf GTI, struck the man resulting in serious life threatening injuries
Police say the man who was hit was taken to University Medical Center where he later died.
Guevara remained at the scene.
Police said this is the 53rd traffic fatality this year, compared to 41 in 2017.
