Funeral home creates funeral museum

To celebrate its 60th anniversary, Perches Funeral Homes is opening a funeral museum.

The El Paso Funeral Museum was inspired by Salvador Perches to enlighten and educate our community on one of man’s oldest professions, cultures and rituals, and to celebrate the traditions of the funeral service industry.

The museum contains articles, memorabilia, curios and antiques that aim to educate our community and honor the “funeral.” The museum will have 10 permanent exhibits and rotate guest exhibits all year long.

The grand opening festivities include an urn art competition and urn art displays, museum tours, a museum scavenger hunt, face painting, food trucks, mariachis, a Day of the Dead celebration with folklore music and a Juan Gabriel impersonator.

The museum is located inside Perches Funeral Home West at 6111 South Desert Boulevard.

The grand opening is Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
