Hundreds gather for Annual Border Mass

Hundreds of people gathered together Saturday morning at the Anapra area of Sunland Park for the annual Border Mass, a bilingual prayer.

El Paso Catholic Bishop, Mark Seitz, and Las Cruces Bishop, Ricardo Ramirez, administered communion, and said they wanted to remind everyone, that even though there is division in this word – people should come together as one.

“Although we know that there is a place for borders and they serve a purpose still there is a god who has chosen that makes us all members of one family, so when we celebrate mass we celebrate unity,” said Bishop Seitz.

The event takes place on both the US and Mexico sides of the border every year.
