EPPD: Man dead following two car collision on I-10 East

A San Elizario man is dead following a two vehicle collision that occurred overnight on November 5th, 2018.

21 year-old Carlos Valenzuela died of his injuries following the collision that took place at I-10 East Exit 34B.

According to the El Paso Police Department, Valenzuela was transported to Del Sol Medical Center in critical after he was ejected from his vehicle after colliding with another car.

Investigators say the accident occurred just after 8 P.M. when Valenzuela allegedly lost control of his 2005 Dodge Durango and crashed into a 2006 Toyota Sienna parked on the shoulder of I-10.

Officials with the Special Traffic Investigations Unit say Valenzuela was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. He was the only occupant of the Durango.

The driver of the parked Toyota Sienna, identified as 44 year-old Rigoberto Arriola of San Francisco, California, sustained minor injuries and was also transported to Del Sol Medical Center.

The El Paso Police Department is still investigating the collision. This marks the 59th fatality of 2018, compared to 45 at the same time in 2017.
