Americas wins Sweet Play of the Year for teams in Texas

Americas has been voted the winner of the Sweet Play of the Year for teams in Texas.

Their week one hook-and-ladder against Eastwood gave them a last-gasp victory over the Troopers and is still paying dividends.

Trailing Eastwood with under a minute to go, the Trail Blazers were facing a fourth down near the goal line, but needed something that could catch the Troopers off guard.

The found it with a hook and ladder in which Joaquin Sandoval hit Julian Hinojos who then pitched it back to Aaron Dumas. Dumas then tiptoed along the sideline and found the end zone for the game-winning score.

The Blazers now turn their attention to a first-round playoff matchup Friday against Midland Lee.

The team was awarded a football signed by each Sweet Play of the Week winner as their prize Thursday afternoon..
