UPDATE: Police identify pedestrian struck and killed at Mesa and Cincinnati

UPDATE:

Police identified the pedestrian killed by a hit-and-run driver early Thanksgiving morning as 28-year-old Amanda Weyant.

A driver struck and killed Weyant at 1:45 a.m. on November 22, 2018 at Mesa and Cincinnati, police said.

The vehicle suspected of striking Weyant, a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier, was abandoned farther east on the 1300 block of Cincinnati, police said.

The vehicle had damage to its hood and a shattered windshield. Investigators dusted the vehicle for fingerprints.

Police are asking anyone who may have information about this crash, or the driver involved, to call STI at (915) 212-4080.

A pedestrian was sent to the hospital with life-threatening injuries following a crash early Thursday morning, police said.

ABC-7’s photographer reports seeing a body covered with a white sheet that appeared to have bloodstains, but authorities have not yet confirmed any deaths. The collision happened at Mesa St. and Cincinnati Ave. at around 2 a.m.

A few hours after the pedestrian was struck, police found a red car that had been abandoned near Cincinnati and Clayton, less than a mile away from where the pedestrian was hit.

The car’s windshield was broken and its hood damaged. Investigators were at the scene all day, taking photographs and dusting the car for fingerprints. Police, however, have not confirmed if the vehicle struck the pedestrian at Mesa and Cincinnati.
