All you need to know about the hot air balloon festival in Jurez

Pay attention to the skies on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

It’s not quite like in Albuquerque, but Ciudad Juárez is set to have its own hot air balloon festival.

Organizers said about 20 balloons will be launched between 6 and 8 a.m. every day.

At 7 p.m., the balloons will stay attached to the ground and have their burners turned on. This display is called noche mágica, or magical night.

The event will take place at the former horse race track known as Ex-Hipódromo, which is located at the intersections of Vicente Guerrero and Antonio J. Bermúdez.

There are activities planned throughout the day — including live music, several kinds of performances and even carnival rides.

Organizers told El Diario de Juárez they expect more than 50,000 people. They are inviting people from El Paso, Las Cruces and other nearby cities to attend.

It costs 150 pesos if you buy your ticket before the day of the event and 180 pesos if you buy it at the entrance the day the festival starts. That’s less than $10.

You can pay extra to camp and stay overnight at the site.
