Stanford & Pittsburgh to square off in 2018 Hyundai Sun Bowl

This year’s Hyundai Sun Bowl will feature the Stanford Cardinal out of the Pac-12 taking on the Pittsburgh Panthers out of the ACC.

The announcement was made Sunday at Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino.

The Cardinal and the Panthers are no strangers to the Sun Bowl.

Stanford recently played in the Sun Bowl back in 2016 when the Cardinal won a close game against North Carolina, 25-23.

Pittsburgh last played in the Sun Bowl in 2008.

The Panthers lost that game to Oregon State by a single field goal, final score was 3-0.

This season the Stanford Cardinal ended the regular season with a record of 8-4.

The Cardinal finished 3rd in the Pac-12 North and are currently riding a 3 game win streak.

The Pittsburgh Panthers ended the regular season with a record of 7-6 and finished in first place in the ACC Coastal division.

The Panthers are coming into the Sun Bowl after losing to #2 ranked Clemson in the ACC Championship game.

The 85th annual Hyundai Sun Bowl is December 31st with kick-off set for noon.
