Wallacetown owner, cafe operator has died

A woman who put a small Texas town on the map has died.

Friends of May Carson sent a news release to ABC-7 stating that the owner of the town of Cornudas — and the restaurant named for the town — passed away in the morning of Dec. 7 at Providence East Hospital in Far East El Paso. Friends say it was due to complications from cancer.

May become widely known during the formation of Wallacetown in 2005 and for her “World Famous Cornudas Burger” served at the Cornudas Cafe.

The cafe was profiled in an ABC-7 report in 2016.

Ms. Carson operated the town of Cornudas from 1981 until her passing, according to the news release.

Her friends said that Carson hosted many events, such as the 1986 Texas Sesquicentennial Wagon Train, dignitaries like President Ronald Regan and First Lady Laura Bush, and numerous actors and celebrities.
