EPPD officer shot in South Central featured in several episodes of ‘Live PD’

The El Paso Police officer shot in South Central earlier this week had been featured in several episodes of the A&E series “Live PD,” and El Paso Police spokesman confirmed.

Officer Felipe Bermudez is recovering after he was released from the hospital. Police said 41-year-old Ricardo Cereceres fired at two police officers Tuesday, striking Bermudez in the hand.

The shooting happened shortly after 12 p.m. on December 11, 2018 near Seville and Sambrano in South Central El Paso. Police arrested Cereceres, a.k.a. Ricardo Herrera, after an hours-long manhunt that led to a SWAT standoff at a residence located on the 100 block of North Clark.

Crisis management team made contact with the suspect but he refused to come out. After several hours, SWAT fired a gas into the residence to force Cereceres out. Police charged Cereceres with two counts of attempted capital murder. He remains jailed.

One of the most memorable episodes of ‘Live PD’ featuring Bermudez involved a massive blaze that engulfed two Central El Paso homes.
