Firefighters rescue men hanging from crane at Marathon Petroleum

Firefighters rescued two men hanging from a crane at Marathon Petroleum in South Central El Paso.

Crews rescued the men one-at-a-time.

The two men were trapped inside a crane basket for about two hours.

According to a Marathon Petroleum spokesperson, the two men were contractors but not employees of the company.

The spokesperson also said the two were working on a communications tower that is not owned by Marathon Petroleum but was in the company’s property.

The rescue operation was first reported shortly after 7 p.m. It is underway on the 6500 block of Trowbridge.
