Local shop Chocolat’ sells out for the Holiday Season; 300 people on wait list

The sweet smell of success comes in the form of chocolate. That is for one business at least – Chocolat.

Chocolat is a locally owned business that has sold out of chocolate and chocolate made items 12 days before Christmas.

The display tables, and cases inside of Chocolat, which are usually filled with chocolate goodies, are empty and have been picked clean.

Leigh Kersh has been in business for about 35 years and came to El Paso almost 16 years ago. People told Kersh that she would never make it here in the Sun City, but she took a risk and it paid off.

Kersh imports her chocolate from Belgium and processes it right at her store. She says it is very important to her to give each item a personal touch of quality. Kersh said, “People don’t want to buy things that have been sitting on shelves, and in a situation like this everything is made fresh.”

Right now, six days before Christmas, Kersh has a waiting list of nearly 300 people, who all want to order some of her chocolate.

Kersh said her customers appreciate the time and dedication she puts into delivering items fresh every day, saying “People don’t want things that have been sitting around anymore and when they taste our things it reminds them of family, it reminds them of home, it reminds them of homemade, people don’t want chili in a jar, they want fresh.”

Kersh told ABC 7 that she hasn’t eaten for days and plans to work through the night to give her customers what they want.

Chocolat is already taking orders for the new year and Kersh told ABC 7 that they are almost sold out,

Chocolat is located at 5860 N Mesa St # 132.
