Driver crashes into streetcar pole, flees the scene

The driver who crashed into a streetcar pole in West-Central El Paso fled the scene, witnesses tell ABC-7.

The wreck was reported at about 12:20 a.m. Sunday at Stanton and Arizona.

The force of the impact heavily damaged the right side of the vehicle and it appears its airbags deployed.

Although the pole remained standing, the streetcar could not resume its path until police towed the wrecked vehicle away from its path.

A witness told ABC-7 firefighters ,who arrived at the scene, encountered the car’s female driver, who allegedly walked away.

Police found the driver’s license and identification inside the vehicle,” according to the witness.

ABC-7 will update you if police make an arrest.
