Men’s Basketball: Poor shooting costs UTEP in loss to FAU

The UTEP Miners were just 15-53 from the field and 5-27 from deep in Thursday’s loss to the FAU Owls at the Don Haskins Center.

The Miners were limited to just 19 first half points in their 61-48 loss – their sixth loss in the last seven games.

UTEP fell to 2-9 in Conference USA play with the defeat and 7-15 on the year. FAU is now 5-6 in C-USA and 14-10 overall.

The Miners have now failed to reach the 60-point mark in four of their past five games, and they’ve also now failed to reach the 50-point mark twice in that span.

Anthony Adger hit eight three-pointers to account for 24 of his 27 points for the Owls, who have now won three of their last four games.

Nigel Hakwins was UTEP’s only player in double-figures with 12 although he also struggled shooting the ball, going just 3-13 from the field.

The Miners will next play FIU at the Haskins Center Saturday night at 7 p.m.
