Bobby Dibler to be honored

Bobby Dibler, the Texas Western Star from the 1963, 64 basketball team and El Paso Athletic Hall of Famer, is picking up another honer.

Dibler was inducted into the Panhandle Sports Hall of Fame today.

He was a guard on the Amarrillo High School Team where he was named All-District in 1961.

Dibler starred in the 1964 NCAA Midwest Regional Tournament averaging 21 points in the three games for the Miners.

After graduating Dibler stayed in basketball referreing high school games in 1968. Then Division one games by 1973.

He worked more than 1000 NCAA games including 14 consecutive years in the NCAA tournament.

Dibler still helps train and supervise referees for 65 schools in the western region of the United States.
