NMSU beats Texas A&M-International for 12th straight win

The New Mexico State men’s basketball team took a quick break from WAC play Tuesday night with an easy 80-42 victory over Texas A&M-International, a Division II school.

NMSU led 25-3 after a little over eight minutes of action and would go on to cruise to their 12th consecutive win.

It was a chance for NMSU to showcase its depth, and the Aggies would end up playing 14 players in the game – each logging at least 11 minutes of action.

Eli Chuha and Trevelin Queen each tallied 14 points to lead NMSU to its 23rd overall win this season (23-4).

The Aggies were just 8-36 from beyond the arc (22.2%) but dominated the boards, grabbing 18 more rebounds throughout the game (48-30).

NMSU will resume conference play Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Pan American Center when they meet UTRGV. The Aggies have a chance to clinch the WAC this weekend and secure the top seed in the WAC Tournament.

The Aggies are now 14-1 at home this season with the lone loss coming against Saint Mary’s in November.
